SUMMARY:Helium recovery online symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Horizon 2020 Remote-NMR project is holding an online symposium on the topic of helium recovery. This topic may be of interest to UK facility managers. In the first talk\, Thomas Vosegaard (Aarhus) will introduce the CO2 calculator developed during the R-NMR project which can be used to estimate the CO2 footprint of various spectrometer configurations. He will also show how the source of liquid helium and the method of transport can affect the CO2 footprint of this aspect of running an NMR spectrometer/facility. This will be followed by several talks from NMR facilities and from Bruker and JEOL outlining solutions to the problem of helium recycling.\n\nEveryone is welcome to join via the Zoom link below. We have looked at the electricity consumption associated with spectrometer consoles\, probes and cryo-platforms but also that involved with the production and transport of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium. This symposium will focus on helium\, which is a scarce resource. There is a growing interest in our community in the best options for helium recovery and recycling.
