King’s College London

The Centre for Biomolecular Spectroscopy promotes the study of biological molecules, from proteins to metabolites, both in basic and medical science, and for projects that translate these advances into clinical understanding and benefit. Within the Centre, the NMR Facility provides access to state-of-the-art NMR equipment, expertise and assistance in the design, execution and analysis of experiments. The NMR Facility caters for all areas of research that can benefit from NMR including structural biology, metabolomics and chemical characterization.

While the Centre’s mission is to serve the needs of King’s researchers, the Facility is open to collaboration with external academic groups and with industry. Research at King’s ranges from structural biology – investigating the structure and function of biological macromolecules – to drug discovery and metabolomics – characterising the composition of bodily fluids in both basic and clinical research. The NMR Facility at King’s also supports research concerning synthesis and characterisation of natural products and pharmaceuticals, molecules developed for PET imaging and polymers used in medical applications.
